The “U” starts early on next year’s #1 class:
UM lands top recruit for 2009
7:15 PM EST, February 21, 2008
It’s never too early to start for next season.
After completing a banner signing class for next season, the Miami Hurricanes got an early jump for 2009 this week when they received a verbal commitment from Wichita East running back Bryce Brown. He is the younger brother of Arthur Brown, who is a freshman linebacker at UM.
“He talked about it with Coach (Randy) Shannon on Tuesday,” said Brian Butler, a family friend of the Browns. “It wasn’t matter of him wanting to get it over with, he just really felt at peace with the University.”
Brown is the second commitment for 2009. Earlier this week, Houston-area quarter A.J Highsmith said he plans to sign with UM next season. He is the son of former Hurricanes running back Alozno Highsmith.
But Brown will likely be the top player in the class. The 6-foot-2 Brown is generally rated among the nation’s top prospects.
