Track: Leith 2nd in NYC

Sheldon Leith highlighted competition for the University of Oklahoma indoor track team at the first of two days of competition, Friday, at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City.

Leith and Latoya Greaves both finished in the top three of the 60-meter hurdles in their respective divisions. Leith posted a time of 7.73 to finish second while Greaves finished third with a time of 8.31.

Tony Clement finished second in the men’s 1,000-meter race with a season-high time of 2:24.08. Jacob Boone finished seventh in the same race with a time of 2:27.36.

Freshmen Kelly Waters and Jessica Engel finished sixth and seventh in the 1,000-meter race with times of 2:56.23 and 2:56.41, respectively.

Tijahnni Newton posted a season-high time of 55.65 in the 400-meter dash en route to a 20th-place finish.
