Football: John Williams gets sixth year
By Scott Wright
Oklahoma defensive end John Williams has received a hardship waiver from the NCAA and has been granted a sixth season of athletics eligibility.
The 6-5, 249-pound Williams started three games of the 2007 season, but suffered a torn left Achilles tendon in the fourth game at Tulsa and missed the remainder of the campaign.
This is decent news for OU, considering Williams is an experienced player who understands the defense and can provide depth.
But unfortunately for Williams, it will be tough for him to get on the field much.
