Cool video of new OSU point guard Cezar Guerrero in action

Four-star point guard prospect Cezar Guerrero has signed with Oklahoma State, giving Travis Ford what he thinks will be a great ballhandler and passer who can hit 3-pointers and run the Cowboy offense. “Cezar is very good at making his teammates better, and is a terrific leader,” Ford said in a statement.

Mix tapes like the one above don’t give you much feel for what kind of leader Guerrero is or what kind of passer and defender he will be. But his ballhandling skills are undeniable. Check it out.

OSU changing its ways for “The Walk”

Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy participates in the traditional pregame walk. The Cowboys' path for "The Walk" is changing this season due to construction.

Oklahoma State’s football game day tradition of “The Walk” is changing.

Due to construction at the OSU Student Union this season, the team will exit on the south side of the Student Union, through the doors north of the courtyard between the OSU Alumni Center and the Paul Miller building, home of OSU’s School of Media and Strategic Communications (formerly known as the School of Journalism and Broadcasting).

“The Walk” begins two hours, 15 minutes before kickoff, with this week’s walk beginning at 3:45 p.m. Fans should start lining up at the staircase across the street from the OSU Alumni Center.

Oklahoma State running back Kendall Hunter: The Straight Talk Express

Many a reporter has tried to rake a juicy quote out of Oklahoma State running back Kendall Hunter. Can’t blame Steve Hunt for trying for FoxSportsSouthwest.com. But Hunter seems to follow the advice from the Good Book in letting his yeses be yes and his nos be no. He didn’t depart from in this Q&A.

On Mike Gundy’s impact on him: “He has impacted me a lot. He’s pushed me. He’s just a powerful motivator.”

On OSU’s new quarterback: “Brandon Weeden is a good quarterback. I think he’ll do fine.”

On who he’d rather beat, OU or Texas: “I’d like to beat both of them. I’d do anything to beat them. It would mean a lot. Our goal is to win the Big 12 championship.”

Reading some preseason publications, you get the feeling that some college football analysts think OSU new offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen’s spread offense will diminish Hunter’s impact on the game. I’m not buying it. Hunter led the Big 12 in rushing in 2008 and was injury plagued most of last season. I think he he’s in for a big year.

Weeden out the bad habits: OSU quarterback says he’s a changed man

Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden says he wasn’t stung by Cowboys coach Mike Gundy’s past criticism of his practice approach. In fact, it sounds like Weeden has embraced it.

After coming off the bench to throw two touchdown passes in OSU’s 31-28 win over Colorado last November, Weeden acknowledged
“I’m not a practice player, I’m more a game-type player.”

Now, in a Q&A with Robert Allen of GoPokes.com, the 26-year-old former professional baseball player says all that’s changed. Now that he’s the OSU starter, Weeden says he’s changed “the way I went about practice and the way I went about everything I do.”

“I’ve changed the way I go about my business whether it is on the field and everything, field, weight room, trying to get the guys going,” Weeden told GoPokes.com. “I know I am a little bit older than these guys and I try to use that to my advantage as much as I can.”

Boone Pickens: “Nebraska’s wanted to leave since the Big Six; that’s 1940.”

Here’s the secret to finding out what OSU super booster Boone Pickens really thinks: Just ask him.

That’s what some folks from the Austin American-Statesman did when Pickens stopped by their offices in Austin yesterday on the day the Big 12 put the band back together, at least most of it. Pickens’ comments about Nebraska will make the Huskers’ Oct. 23 trip to Stillwater a little more interesting.
