Rather than worrying about something that probably won't be changed - a historical event (bad call), why not concentrate on the future and something that can be controlled - getting better pass defense on 3rd down, stopping 4th down tries by the opposition, etc.? Work with what you got, not what you think you should have gotten and let's go on and have a great year!

Defense must get better. That's what cost OSU the game. Of course the call was wrong but you have to expect the unexpected whenever you play Texas. How about the 15 yard excessive celebration penalty earlier in the game? Another very questionable call.

All I'm saying is that the officials...both on the field and in the booth...needed to take as much time necessary to get the call right before making it on the field. With the game riding on this one single call..."inconclusive" should have been replaced with "where were you (the official who made the call) on the field and how did you come to your conclusion". Replce the human element if you have to, but make the right call NO MATTER WHAT...NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES...NO MATTER WHAT PROTOCAL NEEDS TO BE INSTIGATED.

No, they can't unring the bell...nor will an apology, no matter how classy and heartfelt it is, replace the win in a game that came down to its last, crucial play.

My only gripe is that from what I saw watching it several times on Visio...it clearly was a fumble just short of the goal line. And I am not an OSU homer.

If the Big 12 Office is truly apologetic then there needs to be a suspension of two referees. The referee who called the play to early and the one in the end zone who tried to take the ball away from Daytawion Lowe. There simply needs to be a message sent to every Big 12 referee to do your job in a very efficient manner. As a fan and as a season ticket holder this would make me happy. I am not going to let our entire secondary off of the hook or our Defensive Coordinator. There were choices made like only rushing three people on that 4th and 6, and the secondary many times not covering or allowing themselves to get beat. You cannot continue to play soft when the game is on the line. It will come back and bite you every time.

It's not going to change anything, but I do think the apology is a good idea. It shoudn't be overused because there are so many close calls in every game. If it's a tight game and it's a blatant error though, the refs should be held accountable for it just like in every other job. I'm tired of watching games in general where refs make blatantly bad calls and there's no follow up. They canjust go on to the next game and do it all over again. Maybe, if they have to fess up to big mistakes it'll make them pay more attention the next time a similar play happens in front of them and they'll take the time to make the right call. I'm not saying there wasn't things the cowboys could have done differently to win, but they only needed one play to change the game and this happened to be that play for us.

Randy, The Big 12 "Office" is saying the article is "inaccurate" in that the office itself never isssued an apology. The article only reports that Walt Anderson, an NFL referee who also serves as supervisor of officials, admitted the call was wrong and apologised. Big difference. Bottome line: Anderson, who is someone who would know, acknowledged the fumble and the blown call.

Does everyone here ignore the part of the story that states that it would have just been Texas ball on the half yard line.

They way Texas D was playing OSU, it worked out better that the TD counted. If it hadn't, Texas would have had the ball on the half yard line, snuck it in with no time on the clock and no chance for last second heroics.

Had they been stopped, they would have just kicked an extra point field goal, and won that way.
