I wonder if Ed Gallagher, Hank Iba, Art Griffith, Myron Roderick, Labron Harris, Gary Ward, Eddie Sutton, Mike Holder, Mike McGraw, John Smith, Dave Smith, James Wadley, Colin Carmichael, Karen Hancock, Larry Sanchez, or Kurt Budke…

ever sought out the services of the likes of Nick Saban’s Agent to re-negotiate their contracts during their respective tenures as a OSU Head Coach?

I wonder if Jim Littell did?

I wonder if any of them ever resented one of their fellow OSU Coaches salaries so much that they too threatened to leave?

Of course none of them specifically professed their job to be their “New York Yankee’s job”.

From Mike Holder’s perspective, do you allow one coaching contract blunder to beget another and then another and another?

Considering the fact that Mike Gundy’s return to the OSU coaching ranks was made a condition of Les Miles hire, his opportunity to OJT, his dismal start, the BPS silver platter, the counsel to get rid of Coach Roach… considering who really chose and hired the great Assistants, the insistence that Gundy hire a OC and that Holgorsen was to be the man… considering the ’09 Bedlam and Cotton melt-downs that left Brandon Weeden on the bench…

considering the fact that Mike Gundy was specifically hired to avoid just this (highest bidder hired gun coaches and stepping-stone status)…

considering the enormity and extent of Boone Pickens and Mike Holders efforts to put Mike Gundy in a position in which he could not fail…

considering the unconditional nature of Mike Holder’s and so many other Coaches loyalty to OSU…

all things considered…

it’s difficult to imagine Mike Holder’s perception of this Mike Gundy antic to be anything but that of a petty and selfish ingrate at best.

While a raise is warranted, Nick Saban’s Agent with threats of divorce are not… all things considered.

When you look at what Stoops makes and what Switzer made. Look at Barrys accomplishments and Bob’s accomplishments. Bob is really lack luster and obscene money wise, considering what he’s done. Gundy has always done more with less. I know thats the trend, but Seven figure salaries for football coach’s is obscene also, considering the state of the economy.

Chris, you may have forgotten, but Coach Gundy had his last contract salary reduced to increase the salaries of his assistant coaches. Fear not, he’s shown that he knows how to reward loyalty and excellence, and he will continue to sow the seeds of future championships.

D-1 head coaches are so overpaid its ridiculous. Despite that Gundy deserves to be rewarded and recognized for a job well done. I wish coaches like Gundy would accept this and in turn pour a lot of that money they make back to the school and program. They should be the biggest supporters of all the school’s programs.

coach would have made more, butgave some of his money to the others on his staff.iknow he will get a bonus for winning the big12, and a bcs game not for sure how much,but he stillneeds tobe at3.5 to4 million range.

HCMG already gets great recruits. His salary was lower because he didn’t have any head coaching experience on his resume. Now he does and his contract will reflect his success. Congratulations on your success Coach and excellent job Cowboys.

Coach Gundy deserves the raise. The Oklahoma State football had a great season and will probably get in great recruits.
