So much responsibility that a 20 year old college student can't even take a break and go on what was a innocent in nature road trip to go watch a good friend play a game????

So much weight that he's not afforded one mistake, one misjudgment, nor one blunder without the harshest of public condemnations????

To me, be they a Football Player, a Movie Star, or a Rock Star, there's a huge difference between a personality making a typical human blunder that you or I would make and a personality that uses their Star status to intentionally engage in wrongful action.

That difference goes to the nature of the crime, to premeditation, to intent, and to the prospects of true contrition after-the-fact. SUCH has everything to do with judgment and the severity of the punishments rendered.

Proportionality! Perspective!

Justin's crime was NOT as a result of his Star status... only the due's that he now pays are.

John---I too had a severe case of the male brain under 22 something stupid syndrome, and as you well know, El Presidente wishes he had a mulligan or two in his younger days. And it appears Justin has suffered from this syndrome as well, but many in the O State fandom don't want anyone involved to treat like adults should.

My guess is--Justin is a great kid. Truth be known, this OU fan loves him and wish nothing but the best for Justin. He made a life mistake here and luckily no one was injured or hurt or had their life altered. No felonies were committed. Just a bunch of that under 22 male brain sybdrome floating around in that car at 3:45 am on a dark Texas highway. In some jurisdictions---the 'syndrome' is treated like temporary insanity and used guilefully by skilled courtroom lawyers.

Gundy has done the right thing...and regardless of how the K State game turns out--I sincerely hope Justin and the O State fandom realize that there are certain things in life which transcend a football game. It sucks for now--but Justin will realize an upside to this experience somewhere down the road.

I can understand wanting to go see a former teammate play at Cowboys Palace in Arlington, but (1) he shouldn't be going that far on a week his team has a game, (2) he shouldn't be drinking at age 20, and (3) he shouldn't be driving 92 miles an hour unless he's on the German autobahn.

He should be suspended for his sheer stupidity on all three counts, whether he got arrested or not.
