having been spoiled by excellent special teams for the last several years, this year is a real bummer. they have set a negative tone in 3/7 games. overall do not appear to have good football IQ.

holgerson needs to follow his words: “go with what is hot.” what is up with (last drive, 1st half) passing on 3rd and two with hunter averaging 5+?

why not pass to blackmun in 2nd half? he won his battles.

easy to be married to a system. but if you don’t change and grow, divorce is inevitable.

go pokes. learn and grow.

If all you whiners and fair weather fans up above can take a deep breath and remember some of what you have been reading the past few months, this is a young team without as much depth as last year’s version.

Despite that, it has won the games it was supposed to win, and one it was suppose to lose. The play by this team to date has far exceeded the opinions of “experts”, and the upside is still a Big South title and a berth in the Big 12 Championship. After this weekend, do you still think the Texas and OU games are unwinnable?

Please feel free to jump off the wagon and pick your favorite team after the BCS Champion has been decided in January.

It’s the same old song and dance for the Cowboys as much as it pains me to say as I have been an avid Cowboy fan since the mid 80′s. I have seen the best and the worst we have put on the field. The best has never been able to beat OU or Nebraska in the days of the Big 8 and can’t do it against Texas in the Big 12. Thank God Nebraska is moving on but we will still never be able to consistantly beat OU and Texas. Gundy just may not have what it takes to be ‘Big Time’ as he has never beaten OU, Nebraska or Texas as a player or a (head) Coach. We better take care of Texas and OU while they are down this year because if we don’t its going to be a long time before we will have this opportunity again. O State fans, hope your going to be content with 3rd or 4th best in the Big 12 because unfortunately that is the best we will ever be.

By the way…what happened to the out of the endzone kickoffs? That was a great weapon that has mostly disappeared–even with the wind.

I find it unbelieavable that Holgerson talks about third down conversions when, for the past two weeks, we’ve had third and short and instead of putting Weeden (who has good size) underneath ceter and running a sneak which would work almost always (or at least giving it to a running back who averages almost four yards a carry) he dials up some gunslinger mentality long pass. How dumb is that? JUST GET THE FIRST DOWN ON THIRD AND SHORT! Elementary strategy to keep a drive alive and the defense off the field. I don’t get it.

Yep, OSU made our defense look pretty awful. Cowboys will have a good year…at least none of us were Texas fans yesterday!

This was the first time this year that on both sides of the ball we were out schemed after the half. Nebraska made adjustments that OSU’s athletes/coaches counldnt match up to. As far as tackling goes it is a theme… face it has gone on for many years. Its worse when it is on nationally ( Oregon, Ole Miss, OU, Texas games….) There is a reason OSU was picked AGIAN at the bottom of the SOUTH. They have overachieved up to this point with a very potent offense that can handle average teams. Four losses and another Texas bowl game…
Recruiting, recruiting Recruiting… in Texas agianst OU TX, and everyone else that wins games at a higher level always gives OSU Third/Fourth Best….And its shows every year …look at our finishes Go Pokes but stop whining..its a Theme

One of the biggest issues right now for the Cowboys, clearly is the kickoff coverage. Allowing almost 35 yards per kick return, including three touchdowns, it’s killing our defense and momentum time and time again. Either put more experienced players on special teams, or just kick the freakin’ ball out of bounds! Eliminate the touchdowns (again three in just seven games is terrible!!!!)

The Nub defense was an absolute joke. Seriously laughable after all the espn hype. Number 1 pass defense looked like 101. Prince should be called the toad after Blackmon wiped the field with him. And Hunter? How does 5.5 yards a touch sound? With all of those right up the gut of the pink shirts.

Anyways, I thought coaching wise, oSu got away from what was working best Hunter/Randle/Blackmon trio on offense and continuing to send more than 3 on 3rd down defense. Nub was the better team today, but neither is very good. Their national embarrassment is coming.
