Weeden “average” but “progressing”

Oklahoma State held a 115-play scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon and Cowboys coach Mike Gundy was pleased with what he saw.
“Overall, I thought we had a good day,” Gundy said. “I thought there was good on both sides.”
OSU quarterback Brandon Weeden seems to be making progress in Dana Holgorsen’s offense but Gundy is expecting the redshirt junior to continue to improve.
“I thought Brandon Weeden was average,” Gundy said. “I thought he made some good plays, I thought at times he made some bad throws.”
Holgorsen said Weeden’s up-and-down results are to be expected for a guy with just over two weeks’ worth of spring practices under his belt.
“(It’s coming along) slowly,” Holgorsen said. “That’s obviously to be expected. Brandon got better today. Brandon I thought was a little cooler than in the past. I thought he handled some things that were thrown at him that he had problems with here the first six practices, so he is progressing. He’s just a guy that needs a bunch of reps because he hasn’t played football for five years, so he needs just to continue to take snaps and get better.”
OSU will hold its final practice of the week on Friday and the Spring Game will be played on April 17 at Boone Pickens Stadium.

wow danny boy maybe boone can buy some tissue and sit you on his lap and rock you to sleep so you will quit crying…..a guy that hasnt played football in five years had an average practice, what did you want them to print? that he looked like tom brady or drew brees out there?
Poor Danny!! You mean, the savior Brandon Weedn didnt look good?? You mean the guy that came into one half against one of the worst defenses in the nation and threw a few completions to wide open wideouts and caused every Aggie in the state to proclaim him the savior??? That guy can’t play??? Unbelievable!!
Danny guess I don’t see what you are so upset about. I’m neither a Cowboy or an OU fan. So feel I’m very open minded about reading this article. I thought a very fair and informative article. “I thought Brandon Weeden was average,” Gundy said. From this I understand Coach Gundy was the one who said he was average. Not the reporter. Calm down before you stroke out.
Danny, it’s very rare I comment on either John or Brandon’s blogs because these blogs should be where purists from both schools can intelligently discuss either OU or OSU sports away from the 24/7 Bedlam banter. But after reading your comments today on your spin on the ‘average’ comment by Gundy in relation to Weeden– it’s evident to me you are the dumbest O State fan in the country. Surely, when other O State fans read your incoherent blatherings they must cringe and wish you would adopt another school.
You’re the winnner…Danny from Vail–The Dumbest O State Fan in America.

Danny, grow up! Your insipid 7th grade comment, and worse response to valid criticism, show that you are an immature little twirp, regardless of your chronological age. If you have a problem with the “average” comment, talk to Coach Gundy, he’s the one who made the comment, and he also said he was “pleased” with Weeden’s progress.
And by the way, JOE!! No one said that Weeden “can’t play”, so you can stuff it with your comment, too, you are no better than Danny! Weeden can obviously play, and has proved it. Who told you CU’s defense was so awful? Hell they almost beat Texas! Cate had some wide-open guys that he could NOT hit, and Weeden had some guys that were well covered that he HIT, so lay off! People like you and Danny are an embarrassment to the rest of us that would like to have a fun and spirited exchange without your juvenile name calling and insults.
Whatever Bob!! I’ll concede that they weren’t the worse defense in NCAA (57th in total defense – still bad) but for you to say Weeden can obviously play, and he proved it, is the biggest crock ever stated by a football fan!!!! Nobody proves it by playing one half of a home game against Colorado (who didn’t have any film on him and in no way prepared for his strengths or weaknesses)with receivers who WERE wide open for the most part!! That is fact and any attempt to say other wise just proves you don’t know what your talking about! He may end up being good but don’t even act like a typical Aggie and start talking him up yet!!!
Not only the Dumbest O State Fan in America, but a tweebish immature twerp to boot. Dress him up in bright orange fatigues and sheep him out to Boone’s place in Mesa Vista. Let Boone deal with him. Maybe Boone can hire Danny to be head of moat security so as no conspiratorial DOK sports writers can gain access to Gundy’s vault of knowledge.
As an OSU fan, I must ask that Danny shut up. Danny, I realize you have the best of intentions (I think) but do you not realize that your constant conspiracy blabberings only ignite more OU fans to post negative garbage?
Also, what exactly did the paper do to spin the story? Gundy was quotes as saying that Weeden played average. How did the writer take that out of context?
If you don’t like the paper or the blogs, then stop reading them. Otherwise, take off the tin foil hat and stop trying to find ways, no matter how small and arbitrary, to mindlessly criticize those who are provide us fans information about OSU sports. Go Pokes!
Regardless of how the article went….there’s way too many OU fans posting. Don’t they anything to read?
If you are reading these comments, it means you are use a computer (just a wild guess!). You should take a moment today to pay homage to the man who is regarded as the “father of the personal computer”, who passed away yesterday at age 68. His name is Henry Edward Roberts, and he developed the Altair computer in the early 70s. When the Altair appeared on the cover of Popular Electronics, it inspired a couple of young guys in Boston, who immediately contacted Roberts and offered to develop a BASIC compiler for his Altair. Roberts’ company was in Albuquerque, and the two kids in Boston were Paul Allen and Bill Gates…maybe you’ve heard of them! They soon moved to New Mexico and went to work for Roberts, then later formed their own software company…they called it “Micro-Soft”. By the way, Henry Roberts was a 1968 Electrical Engineering graduate from Oklahoma State University. Later on, he went back to med school and became a doctor, and even later he retired to life a “gentleman farmer” in Georgia. Rest in peace, Henry…we all owe you a big debt of gratitude for your contribution to the technology we all enjoy today.
I simply wanted to jot down a quick note in order to say thanks to you for some of the awesome advice you are posting here. My time consuming internet search has at the end been honored with incredibly good details to share with my co-workers. OMG!!
Does this stinking paper go out of it’s way to put a negative spin on each and every Cowboy article it can.
Screw The OUklahoman, it’s sports staff, the editors and it’s ownership.
This is the worst excuse for a “state’s paper” in the entire United States of America.
What a bunch of envious, ou kowtowing toadies at this paper.
If it can’t put ou and even the slightest ou article on top aand up upfront, it will try to bury or belittle the OSU Cowboys.
This paper sucks.
