Leave it to the Daily Oklahoman to campaign for a full year’s suspension on this. Their tune would be different if Dez played for OU, you can guarantee it.

Sadly Chatmon’s take is probably right. Ask yourself: Who is the NCAA accountable to? Ultimately they are to college presidents, but in the main they are accountable to no one. In cases like this it it relatively easy to impose their “will” without retribution since it’s not the USC’s, OU’s, etc. of the sporting world. The ironic thing is that there’s no real lesson in this. Don’t even think about lying to us? That happens daily in collegiate athletics. And it will continue …….

I think the real question is that how long is it going to take NCAA finalize their decision. Are they going to make him wait until the end of the season. The sooner we hear about NCAA’s decision the better for everyone. If the answer is no, Hell with NCAA, Dez should go ahead and do what ever it take to get the best deal for himself in the NFL draft

I saw an ESPN clip yesterday about how Roger Staubach was mentoring Texas QB Colt McCoy and how good of friends they had become. It was obvious they had spent a great deal of time together. No one blinked an eye, in fact they were celebrating it. Did the NCAA start a witch hunt on him? Yea Dez lied, and Colt did not. But perhaps Dez is scared of authority figures, if you look at his life you might understand why.

Comparing the image of Dex and Deion versus Roger and Colt creates a surprising contrast.

Search your souls NCAA, I smell like a witch hunt and some racism on top of that.

So you can get pissed off when someone is talking sh** at the end of a football game and sock him in the mouth and be suspended for a few games then to be RE-instated. This is not AN EXAMPLE its b.s. and hipocritical.

Does a 19 year kid not deserve to have legal representation when the NCAA comes calling. This could have been easily avoided if he would have had a little councel.

ANOTHER PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HOW USELESS THE NCAA IS……OUR WORLD HAS MUCH WORSE THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT THAN A 19-20 YEAR OLD WHO MADE A MISTAKE THAT HURT NO ONE…..AND YET THEY TRIED TO COVER UP A SCANDEL HAVING TO DO WITH GRADES….

There is some precedent of players who lied returning the same season, so we’ll see. It would be unfair to punish Dez disproportionately just because he’s a star. I can see why they might, though.

The NCAA precendents are out there. The actual prescribed punishment is half of eligibility, which would definitely get him back this season. Maybe 6 games.

Even that is out of proportion to the crime. I’m kind of disappointed that the Oklahoman’s own John Rodhe backed a full season suspension, while many national writers have called the NCAA on the lack of proportion on this. If they don’t let him come back, the punishment will be far greater than the crime.
