Georgia has been struggling with the injury bug during their preseason camp. Running back Caleb King is yet another Bulldog who missed practice and looks to be out 7 to 10 days.
King sat atop the depth chart at running back heading into preseason practice.
Richard Samuel, who had a great scrimmage for UGA earlier this week, is taking most of the reps with UGA’s starters. Samuel doesn’t have the game experience of King, who was Knowshon Moreno‘s backup last season. If Samuel remains the starter heading into the Sept. 5 opener at Boone Pickens Stadium, there’s no telling how he’ll respond to being the man in a big game between two top 15 teams on ABC.
Meanwhile, Roger Clarkson of the Athens-Banner Herald talks about another potential concern for the Cowboys. Backup quarterback Logan Gray, who returned punts last year for UGA, looks like the favorite to win the No. 2 job and could be used as a running threat to make OSU account for the quarterback in certain situations.
And David Hale of Macon.com looks at UGA’s battle for the backup quarterback spot which includes true freshman Aaron Murray, one of the top quarterback recruits in the nation last year.
