Let the OSU-Georgia trash talk begin
By Scott Wright
There’s a story on Rivals.com in which college football writer Olin Buchanan lists teams he believes might be overrated going into 2009 and some that might be underrated.
He lists Oklahoma State first on possibly overrated teams, and ironically, he has Georgia, the Cowboys’ first opponent on Sept. 5, as the first team in the possibly underrated section.
But more interestingly, here’s what a Georgia blogger with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says about the situation. Cowboy fans looking for extra motivation for facing the Dawgs should be sure to read the comment section.

I’m a Florida Gator fan and have been for about 30 years and I hate the Georgia Bulldogs..that being said I just watched a reply of the 2008 Holiday Bowl and boy oh boy are you Cowboys in for a shock on Sept 5…the Dogs are going to take your slow, slow team to school..get ready for some SEC football, and that means speed…Dogs by at least 15–book it
Different year, different team, Bill. Now turn off your computer and get back to worshipping your Tim Tebow shrine.
I’m a long-time Cowboy fan, but that doesn’t blur my vision about the upconing contest against UGA. Although the DOGS are rated slightly higher in most pre-season polls than the POKES, I think it will come down to which team wants the “W” the most….. and that is definately the OSU COWBOYS.
I think whoever wins the Turnover battle will win the game. I also think UGA will double team Dez, so the million dollar question who will be the other receiver? I believe the best game plan is to have a lot of long drives and let Kendall have a monster day. If we can run the ball we win if we can not the game will be too close
I notice that you guys don’t talk about the Cowboys as much as Ga fans do. I must admit that we have some crazy, but loyal fans in the State of Ga.
Here’s my take on the game. If Ga players can stay out of trouble and remain healthy the dawgs will win this game. We had 2 players to get suspended already. One of them was our best pass rusher Justin Houston-DE. He will not play in this game.
With Jeff Owens-DT, Trinton Sturdivant-OT and Marcus Washington-LB returning from season ending injuries will put the dawgs in a position to win the SEC.
We don’t have Matthrew Stafford to screw up anymore so the offense will be solid this season. We will miss Knowshon Moreno but we are stack at the rb position with a strong offensive line.
Good Luck Cowboys.
I’ve got a feeling that the OSU defense will be decent this year instead of a Japanese fire drill like the last four years. Same story though if our defense can keep a team under 30 points we can beat anybody. I agree with pounding the ball – Hunter can 6 yard any team to death.
Class words Tony. Good luck to UGA too.
Just think its kinda low not to let UGA only have 5,000 tickets. Over 25,000 fans traveled to Arizona. Of course would be awkward to have half tickets sold to visiting team.
Then again how many did UGA give to OSU for there game in Athens.
Got my tickets through OSU,Woof Woof.
U boys can pound the all you want. The only thing you’ll be doing is pounding into a wall of 300+lb SEC D-Tackles who have seen a hell of a lot tougher teams than u boys.
Ya’ll don’t stand a chance,UGA by 28 in a laugher.
Then we all go out, party, spend the nite and go home the next day.
GA fans keep one thing in mind we have upgraded our facilities and the fans are pretty much right on top of you, we play in one of the best conferences in the country, you lost your starting quarterback and running back and the your current quarterback hasn’t started a game, and by the way your on the road, not a step up in my book OSU 42 GA 17
talk all you want bull pups , to bad your not gonna face the real team of oklahoma , if you get beat by o state you will go home to your redneck state with your tail between your legs.
face a real team like oklahoma? huh! what has oklahoma ever done? brian scott, even you don’t believe that prediction.
After looking at the 2 conference’s history, I notice that the Sooners own the Big 12 conference. That said, I need to retract from what I said in my last post. Oklahoma has a very good program in a decent conference. Here’s a list of national championships in the Big 12:
Oklahoma..7
Nebraska..5
Texas…..4
Texas A&M.1
Colorada..1
Arkansas..1 (present, SEC)
Total….19
Here is a list of National Championships in the SEC:
Alabama….12
Tennessee…6
Florida…..3
LSU………3
Ole Miss….3
Georgia…..2
Auburn……1
Kentucky….1
Total……31
Both conference are very good, but the SEC is stronger.
Look at it this way, UGA wins just another win, OSU wins its tear down goal post. Yes UGA will be in a bowl game this year, just which one. OSU ?
I’m with Bill and the SEC’s Power! I’m a Gator fan as well and would love to see OSU win, but I think you got a whole world of hurting coming. I still expect a good game whether they shake hands or not.
and P.S. Mike… You’ll respect Tebow too when you see the Gators kick it this year with him at the helm. Mark MY words!

It sounds like UGA fans are just like Probation U fans, they are always full of themselves. What I find funny is most of them are doing the exact opposite they are under rating us by saying we are over rating us. I never put too much stock in a team before the first game. I agree this will be a statement game. OSU needs to score fast and often, that was my theory last year. This year I would like to see some 8-10 minute drives. That would be a good defense for us.
