Ford apologizes, again

Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford used Tuesday’s pregame radio show to apologize again to fans for using profanity toward a player in Saturday’s game at

Kansas.

The issue was the first thing Ford addressed on the pre-recorded show, which was broadcast on The Cowboy Radio Network, KSPI-93.7. Ford also went on the Sports Animal in Oklahoma City on Monday to apologize for calling junior Obi Muonelo a “(expletive) idiot” with under a minute to play in the 11-point loss at

Kansas.

On the pregame show with John Holcomb and Dave Hunziker Ford said he’s spoken to the team about it at length, and said “it’s something I’m not going to tolerate out of myself.”

Andrea, you may have noticed Im not a big fan of Tramel or Jenni. They seem to be mostly opionion and little fact. I want to compliment you on your balanced coverage. I feel you do a much better job and wanted to compliment you on that. Keep it up. Thx

Foul language is rampant in college and H.S. sports and society as a whole. As a High School and Middle School teacher, I shudder at the thought at what would happen to my career as an educator, if I cursed at a student in such a manner as Ford did. I would be looking for a job (and rightfully so). Parents and players should not tolerate coaches cursing athletes at any level. I have often heard my own children and their teammates be victimized by coaches with vulgar and foul language.

I for one would like to see Ford dismissed for this. I wonder what goes on in the other sports venues. All sports might need to heed the warning. Ford’s conduct has given my alma mater a black eye, not to mention the damage to regruiting.

Curse words are for people who are cripples when it comes to their command of the English language. Coach Ford, maybe if you improve your command of the English language, you might find better more effective words to motivate your team.
