O-line was outstanding in Austin

By Scott Wright

I anticipated Oklahoma State would be able to run the ball successfully against Texas. But I never expected 217 yards — 191 from the tailback spot — against one of the top defensive lines in the country.

Brian Orakpo and Roy Miller have been dominating any offensive lineman that steps in front of them this season.

Mike Gundy said earlier this week that it was the O-line’s best performance of the season.

Running backs coach Curtis Luper went even farther.

“They may have played the best game since we’ve been here,” he said. “We thought that the Texas defense, from what we had seen, was playing as well as Oklahoma’s defense, which is traditionally the best defense in the Big 12. Going in, we thought that defense was as good as those defenses we’ve seen in the past. Coming out of it, we played well. Well enough to win.”

Gundy has been slow to praise the big boys up front, even when OSU was running all over everyone earlier in the season. But he was very pleased with Saturday’s effort.

“They played good in this game,” he said. “Texas’ defensive front is very good, very athletic, and our guys handled the circumstances and their athleticism very well in my opinion.”

OSU’s blocking ability is boosted by tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who in my mind — and many others who study the NFL Draft closer than I do — is a sure-fire first-round draft choice. I’m writing about Pettigrew for Wednesday’s paper, so be sure to check that out.

I think the cowgirls are putting the cart befoe the horse, they have one good season and they think there world beaters.Stick to raising pigs and cows and leave the college football to the real schools, like OU.

Nice schooner sooner. Maybe next time proof read your comments. This story is by sports writer not a cowboys fan. But let me guess you never saw the inside of a classroom at OU(like most sooner fans). Look OSU played a great game against Texas at Austin. Why is it that OU fans feel like they have to get on the blogs and talk smack. My guess is you saw that game and are little bit worried about bedlam!
