A transportation-themed blog for you this Friday evening
Between the open portion of football practice (the first hour or so) and the interview portion after practice, the OSU media corps has about an hour and a half to kill. Usually it’s prime time in the media work room to write upcoming stories, make calls, surf the internet or otherwise procrastinate. Today I’m being a good little blogger (yeah, I know it’s a change of pace) and using this time to type away here.
Two items of interest.
Numero uno: While working on a story about OSU pitcher Andy Oliver’s status, I called baseball coach Frank Anderson. He didn’t have a whole lot to say about the Oliver situation, but he did tell me a bit about his passport and visa situation. See, Anderson’s trying to make his way over to China to watch his son play in the Olympics. The problem is, since the team was announced late, Anderson’s not sure he’s going to be able to get his visa in time. I can relate — I had a similar situation with a Brazilian visa this summer — and this is definitely one of those times where slow bureaucracies can make you crazy. So keep your fingers crossed for Frank.
Item 2: For the first time in my residency in Stillwater (almost two years now!) Hall of Fame is open. I’m told it will dramatically change the way you can drive in this town, and I’m kinda excited about it. May have to drive that way home even though it’s out of the way.

Make sure frank is using an expediting service. This can make all the difference in the world. For brazil we use a company called consular services that pushes our apps through. Basically their office is across the street from the embassy and they know all the people and hand carry your app through….
