The Cowboys are coming off their best-ever season under head coach Frank Anderson as they finished 42-21 and advanced to the second Super Regional in school history, where they fell one win shy of advancing to the College World Series.
OSU returns just two position starters from a year ago, but both players, Rebel Ridling and Jordy Mercer, are All-Big 12 Conference performers. The pitching staff returns seven hurlers who made at least 11 appearances last season.The Cowboys were picked to finish fifth in the Big 12 Conference in a preseason vote by the league¹s coaches.
GonzagaThe Bulldogs are coming off a 2007 season in which they finished 33-25 overall, including a second-place finish in the West Coast Conference with a 15-6 mark.The Coaches
OSU¹s Frank Anderson enters his fifth season with the Cowboys sporting a 155-90 career record.
The Bulldogs are led by Mark Machtolf, who is also in his fifth season and is 114-102 as head coach at Gonzaga.

OSU is ranked 27th in the NCBWA preseason poll and 31st by Collegiate Baseball.
Gonzaga is not ranked.

About Gonzaga
The Bulldogs are coming off a 33-25 season in which they finished second in the West Coast Conference standings. GU returns 18 lettermen, including four position starters, from a year ago. OSU is 3-1 all-time against Gonzaga. Lots Of New Faces
The Cowboys’ 2008 roster includes a large and talented group of newcomers, with a recruiting class that counts 18 players.
Eight of the newcomers are junior college transfers, while the class also includes six freshmen and four Division I transfers. Seven of OSU¹s recruits have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.
Among the more notable newcomers are transfers Matt Hague, who will start at third base, and catcher Luis Flores, who is expected to start behind the plate.
Freshman Thomas Belza hit .556 as a senior at Cincinnati¹s Moeller High School to break Ken Griffey Jr.¹s school record, while fellow frosh Rafael Thomas has blazing speed and was a high school All-American and MLB Draft pick. Another freshman, Dean Green, could earn time as the Cowboys¹ designated hitter.
The group of junior college newcomers includes JUCO All-Americans Michael Dabbs, Neil Medchill and Tyrone Hambly, while Danny Brown was named one of the top prospects in the 2007 summer leagues.
Home Sweet Home
Allie P. Reynolds Stadium has been home to Oklahoma State baseball since 1981, and in those 26 seasons the Cowboys have proven to be nearly unbeatable on their home field.
OSU was 19-9 at home in 2007 and is 693-144 (.828) all-time at Reynolds Stadium, and the Cowboys have lost more than two consecutive games on their home turf only once.
The Cowboys are 56-14 all-time in home openers and have won three-staight home openers.
