SEC handicapper rates Oklahoma’s chances of heading South

Mark Bradley of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution evaluated candidates for the Southeastern Conference’s 14th member (presuming Texas A&M’s potential legal issues are resolved). He rates Oklahoma’s chances of landing in the SEC at 30 percent:

“The Sooners are the greatest prize out there, but they’re believed to be looking first toward the Pac-12. Then again, the SEC did approach Oklahoma last summer, and the Sooners are nothing if not pragmatic. The school’s inclination to trample on tradition — coach Bob Stoops said super-conferences are the way of the future and that if the annual Texas-OU game gets lost for the sake of progress, so be it — could lead it southward.”

Here’s how Bradley handicaps the other candidates’ chances of landing in the SEC:
– West Virginia (65 pct.): “Of the teams on the SEC’s draft board, West Virginia would figure to be the easiest to convince.”
– Missouri (50 pct.): “Heavy rumors link the Big 12 Tigers to the SEC, although it’s not entirely clear why. The Tigers have historically been better at basketball, and their recent run of football success might not stand the strain of the SEC West. Adding Missouri would broaden the TV base into St. Louis and Kansas City, but a countervailing theory holds that Mizzou sees itself as a better fit in the Big Ten. Chance it lands in the SEC: 50 percent.”
– Virginia Tech (37.5 pct.): “The Hokies would offer penetration into the Washington market.. Still unclear is whether Virginia Tech, which lobbied hard to get into the ACC alongside Virginia only eight years ago, would split so soon.”
– Maryland (30 pct.).
– North Carolina State (20 pct.)
– Florida State (10 pct.)
– Clemson (10 pct.)
– Louisville (10 pct.)
– North Carolina (5 pct.)
– Georgia Tech (5 pct.)
– Miami (5 pct.)

I’m tired of hoping OU will be Oklahoma’s representative in the premier football conference in the land. Congratulations A&M!

Love the Tebow pic. Classic!

Perhaps The Big 12 should transfer to other conferences then it could be called The Big 0.

I love how everybody says Tebow is so classy and is a good kid. This pic just shows the kind of douchebag he really is.

This picture sums up why ou will not and should not join the SEC. It would be just one butt whippin after another, and Stoops could no longer stroke his ego or shoot off his big mouth every week.

The picture was not “Saint Tebo’s” classiest hour.

If OU goes to the SEC. They would still win 10 to 11 games a year. All they would do is change the way they play defence. In the Big 12 everybody spreads it out. So they don’t need the 330,lbs D-line or the 250,lbs LB, because they are playing for the pass, and the hurry up teams.

The most logical is the sec west NOT the Pac 12. Forget about Texas. OU needs to take of themselves & not worry about what Texas does. As for Baylor they are showing what they are truly made crybabies!

Teblow sucks and OU does not want to resort to all the dirty low life recruiting tactics used by the securities and exchange comission.

Other than Bama no one in the $ec will ever sniff OU’s jock

For the fans, yes, the SEC would make logical sense. But for OU’s style of play, the PAC-whatever is the logical choice.

Why wouldn’t OU want to join the SEC? Their fans talk as much crap as they do. Can they handle crap talk? No. Even St. Tebow dominated those goons. Not to mention Les Miles SPANKED those goons!

OU fans are just as tacky as goon fans and they can’t handle it.

**SEC fans are just as tacky..

As an OU alum I personally would travel to the games if they went to the SEC but I would never travel to the west coast for a football game. The atmosphere doesn’t even compare. OU and A&M both have a great atmosphere that fits into the SEC. TExas is definitely a hippy west coast school. There is nothing better than the atmosphere at a night game in Baton Rouge or walking through The Grove at Ole Miss or attending games at Bama, UGA, or Tennessee.

Another completely baseless opinion. To begin with, if you are ranking by percentage, all of the percentages should equal 100 or less. What a maroon. Secondly, you have absolutely no bearing in which to make these speculations. It is just what you (author) thinks.

If Texas doesn’t watch it,they’ll be out in the cold themselves. The pac12 doesn’t want Texas with their tv contract and neither does anybody else. The might as well go independent. Or if the big 12 was smart, kick the longhorns out.Things were going pretty good until Texas got greedy.I dont blame A&M jumping ship.I do believe Baylor will be left out in the cold. I don’t see Tech going to pac12,all they havce to offer is sagebrush. Latest info has it pac 12 is looking at Kansas to beef up the conference basketball.Kansas produces more basketball revenue than some schools produce in football in pac12 or Big10.

What a load.If asked by the SEC all the schools below would junp 100%. Chance OU goes SEC is 1.75%, PAC 10 63.125% and Big is 49% + or – 12%. Boomer!
