Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones dives head first into Twitter

What’s Landry Jones doing on Twitter?

Following the lead of girlfriend, Oklahoma basketball player Whitney Hand (ou_whitneyhand)? Combatting snow day boredom? Launching his 2011 Heisman Trophy campaign? Playing matchmaker for teammates?

Whatever his motivation, the Sooner quarterback didn’t wade in. He dove: landryjones12 opened an account Tuesday and had 88 tweets and 1,604 followers by midnight Wednesday. Here’s a sampling of what he’s tweeting about:

Screening prospective girlfriends for OU safety Tony Jefferson: “@tonyjefferson1 is single and is looking for a good girl if you are going to get him into trouble he’s not the man for you.”

Sharing scripture: “This is how I spend my life:obeying your commandments. Psalm119:56 I pray at the end of my life I can say I did this.”

Airing grievances: “Ryan Broyles just stood me up for dinner ;(”

Providing workout updates: “Hello twitter world just finished riding the stairmaster and working out weighed 232 today gotta drop two pounds getting ready for next year.”

Giving credit where credit is due: “@ou_whitneyhand I love you thanks for setting up my twitter account.”

Polling followers on whether Batman is a hero or super hero: “Ok the vote was really close but according to the votes and evidence batman is a hero No superpowers=no superhero.”

This should be fun. And make that 1,605 followers.

I’ll bet he’ll remove his account during football season. One bad game and “bam” a super explosion of tweets will come at him. You absolutely cannot give the critical fans this kind of access.

Great! Good guy and an excellent QB for the Sooners! All the way next year! OU # 1.

Hi! I remember watching you play football as a Little Guy and I said WOW he is Good. We are so proud of you. I am originally from Artesia now live in Allen, Tx. My church will be contacting you soon to get you to come speak. I hear you will be in Artesia this week-end.

Good Luck. You may hear some things you don’t like.

Steve Davis was a pretty good qb as well as a Baptist preacher . Thanks LJ for sharing your faith in God.

A good quarterback but not tough enough to win a national championship.

OH NO! Looks like I will be reopening an account on boring old, “look at me, look at me” Twitter just to see what my favorite college quarterback is tweeting. Oh, well.

I agree with Vince.

I disagree with Tom. What are your reasons?

Can’t find him on Twitter.

@LandryJones12

@ Vince… he won’t have one bad game.
