Bob Stoops Day at ESPN is Thursday

Brace yourself, Bristol. Bob Stoops will be invading the ESPN campus for 14 interviews over four hours on Thursday.

Bob Stoops will be on ESPN Thursday, all day Thursday.

The OU football coach and the Worldwide Leader has an aggressive interview schedule across all — well maybe not all — of ESPN’s platforms Thursday in Bristol, Conn. He’s scheduled to do 14 interviews over a four-hour period with a mix of television, radio and internet appearances.

A co-worker just wisecracked whether anyone was going to take over/under betting on how many times Stoops said “certainly” during this interview onslaught. I won’t be counting, but I’ll be listening/watching/monitoring as much as humanly possible.

Here’s the ESPN’s Stoopsapalooza schedule:

7:25 am – Mike & Mike Show (ESPN Radio)

7:45 am – Doug Gottlieb Show (ESPN Radio)

7:55 am – SportsCenter.com

8:05 am – ESPN Rise

8:20 am – The Herd (tape) (Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio)

8:45 am – SportsCenter

9:00 am – ESPN.com chat

9:25 am – 1250 ESPN Radio Pittsburgh

9:50 am – First Take

10:15 am – ESPNews

10:30 am – ESPNU

10:45 am – Digital Media

11:00 am – ESPN.com video interview with Ivan Maisel

11:30 am – 1:00pm – College Football Live

Oklahoma City Thunder schedule through the competitive looking glass

The latest step in Oklahoma City’s maturation as an NBA city comes in how the schedule is viewed.

For the first time, NBA in OKC Nation is viewing the home team’s slate through a competitive prism.

Case in point: Games versus the Lakers.

Bad news: You only get to see the Lakers at the Ford Center once in the regular season. Good news: The Thunder only plays the Lakers three times this season, not four.

The trade-off: Four games vs. the Clippers. When all Oklahoma City had to look forward to from a season was entertainment, this wouldn’t have sounded like much of a deal. Now that OKC is filling the offseason by fretting over why the Lakers ranked above the Thunder in ESPN’s future ratings? Bring on the Clippers and worry about the Lakers in the playoffs.

Oklahoma City, get ready for your close up(s).

The Oklahoma City Thunder is scheduled for 15 nationally televised games, according the NBA schedule released Tuesday. The biggest stages are two Sunday home games to be broadcast on ABC:

– Sunday, Jan. 30 at home against the Miami Heat, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. It’s a noon game on ABC. Local pastors can start planning early Sunday services now if they don’t already have them.

– Sunday, Feb. 27 at home against the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant. That’s a 1:30 p.m. tip, so there’s time for church. However, that’s the only time the defending champs come to Oklahoma City, at least in the regular season.

The Thunder will be on TNT four times, including thrice as part of TNT’s Thursday night doubleheader.

– Thursday, Nov. 4 at Portland. That’s Oklahoma City’s TNT debut, giving Charles Barkley a chance to revisit his comments about Oklahoma being a “vast wasteland” — Chuck, you know you’ve never taken us up on that invitation to visit and see for yourself. Mayor Mick, Kelly Ogle and others will likely reissue that invitation sometime between now and then.

– Thursday, Jan. 6 at Dallas. Another TNT game. By then, all of this national exposure stuff will be old hat for OKC, but still. It’s Dirk and Cuban.

– Thursday, Jan. 13 at home against Orlando. TNT with Dwight Howard, Stan Van Gundy and who knows, our old friend Chris Paul might even be in a Magic uniform by New Year’s.

– Monday, Jan. 17 at Los Angeles Lakers. We already knew about this TNT game on MLK Day. Another bonus: A West Coast game with a 7:30 p.m. CST tipoff.

And then there’s nine ESPN appearances:
– Oct. 27: Opening night vs. Chicago
– Nov. 12 vs. Portland
– Nov. 19 at Boston
– Christmas night vs. Denver on Christmas Day
– Feb. 13 at Golden State
– Feb. 23 at San Antonio
– Feb. 25 at Orlando
– March 16 at Miami
– March 27 vs. Portland
