Great article, Elizabeth. Thank you very much. Your description of cowboy/western music is right on, particularly what it is “not.”
I personally love the statement about making Frank Sinatra fans happy. We’ve also heard people compare Jim’s renditions to Bing Crosby’s cowboy and western sound.
I might mention that Jim does a considerable amount of Western Swing music, and on May 7 Byron Berline and his Band will have a Western Swing show in Guthrie, Oklahoma, at the Logan County Fairgrounds, 7:30 pm. It will feature Leon Rausch, the last vocalist that Bob Wills hired.
