It’s been a busy Monday. You need a break. How about a quick view of the Library Detective from Seinfeld. Priceless!
We can’t embed the video, but you can view it by clicking here.
Have fun, and don’t forget to return your library books on time!
The YouTube description says this is “an impromptu and unconventional domino line at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s ACES Library. As a conceptual art project, it pokes fun at and criticizes the monotony and strictness of institutions and libraries.”
Yeah, either that, or it’s what bored academic librarians do during Intersession; you know, when there are only about five students on campus.
Either way, it’s pretty darn fun!
Kitty and I are heading to Tulsa tomorrow for the Celebration of Books. We’ll catch up with you next week. In the meantime, enjoy your Library YouTube Break!
OK. This is just… bizarre! And there would be no way Myrna would make it through Library School in this day and age. Such atrocious customer service! Still, it makes for a rather fascinating, retro-funny YouTube break. And, it’s a chilling tale of suspense. Plus, it’s in three parts, so you have something to do on break tomorrow and Wednesday, as well. What a bargain! (You’re welcome.) Happy viewing.
I heard this song years ago, and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries even received permission to play it at the State Literacy Conference one year. While discussing new readers with a friend in our Literacy Resource Office, I remembered the tune and promptly found it on YouTube. It makes a nice Library YouTube Break, and a reminder of the power of reading. Support your local adult literacy council.
Discovered this great parody of the Old Spice commercial! It was a link within this great little article: Why The Next Big Pop-Culture Wave After Cupcakes Might Be Libraries. The video is from the Brigham Young University library, and it’s wicked good! Enjoy the break!
Young Bill here’s the Old Spice hunk, giving the heads up about libraries, I think the heat is getting to us.
ABC has the most wonderful situational comedy set in a library. Unfortunately, it’s not our ABC, it’s the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and the name of the television show is simply The Librarians. It’s wicked fun! But the only way you can see it in America is to order the DVD from ABC, and watch it on a region free DVD player. (Totally worth it!) Enjoy your Library YouTube Break!
Check out what Australian librarians think of the show before you return to working mode.
Glad this Monday is over! I need a break. How ’bout you? Mr. Bean visits a rare book collection at the library. If you’re a fan, this works as a humorous Library YouTube Break. If you’re not, it’ll just frustrate the heck out of you unless you imbibe a bit before viewing. Happy week!
Young Bill Young here. Well, I can officially log-in as myself and don’t have to see that “posted by kitty pittman” line when I add my two cents to Okie Reads. However, I still have to say “Young Bill Young here” because it says this is “posted by wyoung.” We’re going to have to talk to Nick at NewsOk.com and get this worked out…
OK, it’s been raining cats and dogs in OKC, and it’s Monday, and it’s gloomier than a regular Monday, so you know you really, really, really need a Library YouTube Break. This was created for the OC Library. I’m thinking it’s Orange County cause OKC ain’t got no palm trees. Enjoy!
We think we should make the Library YouTube Break a continuing feature! What do you think?
First up, this little 18 minute ditty from the University of Kansas. The description on YouTube:
“Before winning an Emmy for his work on “Heroes,” then-student Chris Martin wrote and directed 2004′s The Lord of the Libraries – a tale of action, adventure, and overdue books, parodying The Lord of the Rings.”
We promise, this will help with your Monday blahs (or put your to sleep, which will also help you forget that it’s Monday). Enjoy!
