Reading Bloom is always a bit of a challenge for me. I admire his mind and his ideas, but his style strikes me as very academic. Usually not my cup of tea!

His book, Jesus and Yaweh: The Names Divine, is now on my list of books to read (as soon as I get my current project finished). Eventually, I think I would like to look at Bloom’s new book, The Shadow of a Great Rock. However, I finally laid aside King James’ original bible after many years of thee’s and thou’s. Now I read from the New International Version or the New King James version, supplemented by Richard Laurence’s translation of the Book of Enoch (my favorite). Appreciated your observation, Bill, about the literary aspect of the gospel according to Mark.
