I agree Sadie. I especially like the lesson of Mostly Monsterly.

It's interesting that this came to me while I was writing the review, but the three books together seem to communicate the messages we give to children:

Cowboy Avery: You're unique and special. Be happy with who you are.

Chicken Dance: Don't try to be something you're not. Find your special talents and be who you are.

Mostly Monsterly: Try to get along with others, but don't forget to be true to yourself.

By the way: Brooklyn was a biter. (What is it about second children?) And yes, she was sweet after the biting was over. Mostly. ;-)

I think I need to get this book for Leo! Because he's so so sweet. Oh, and because he bites just like a monster!

But after the biting he is really sweet :)

I like the idea of working to be who you are and get along more than the idea of you being who you are just happens to save the day.
