Thanks to Steve Mason, owner of Earl’s and the Iguana Mexican Grill, to be the first to respond to my request for nutritional info on healthy menu items.

Working and/or living downtown is great because it has so many wonderful locally owned restaurants. But finding nutritional information and identifying healthy items is typically more challenging at the local restaurants than at chains.

So for someone like myself, someone who prefers the local eateries, the options end up being the chains.

So let’s start off with Mason …

Earls
- Turkey Dinner: Corn on the cob, side salad w/ tomato basil vinaigrette no cheese- 460 total calories/52 calories from fat, 5 grams fiber.

Iguana Grill
- Tilapia Salad with Mixed Greens, roasted corn, pico di gallo, and roasted red bell peppers, tossed with a light mezcal lime vinaigrette

- Sopa De Maiz- Completely Vegan Soup with roasted poblano chiles, Roasted corn, green curry, coconut milk, and shiitake mushroom dumplings

- Ahi Tuna Tostadas- Seared Ahi, Mango, Jicama, Cucumber

- Fish tacos-Smoked Tilapia, White Corn Tortillias, Pico Di gallo, and jicama slaw
