If ODOT and the city get their way, the new Oklahoma "street" should be called an Expressway, or Trafficway or perhaps a Beeline.

A boulevard is recognized by almost everyone as being a suface street with lots of on/off access, normal speed limits and considerable beautification elements such as greenery, fountains, sculptures , etc.

i read in the paper that there were two "camps" present at the hearing about the boulevard; one which favored development, the other favored improved traffic flow. it was announced that the new plans indicate compromise between these competing interests.

i wasn't present at the hearing, but what i've read on the internet gave the distinct impression that the citizenry speaking were in loud agreement that they favored a narrow, slower boulevard. so who comprised this other "camp", favoring traffic flow? citizens, government officials, or both? and how did the divide go? 50/50? 90/10? what's up here?
