Not sure if the folks at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the city’s engineers realize it yet, but it appears as if they’re about to face a stiff opposition to their efforts to move forward with designs for a high-volume boulevard through downtown. The next couple of weeks may be very lively…..

what i’m reading about sure isn’t what i was expecting. i had envisioned some sort of nice boulevard like st. charles avenue in new orleans, two lanes on each side divided by a large, landscaped median with a speed limit of 35 mph. instead, it sounds like they’re going to rebuild what they just took out, which i do not understand. i would think ODOT will be responsive to the public will, but they have to know just what that is. if they don’t have the funds to build what the public wants, then it should not be built unless the public decides to fund it. the decisions made now will affect us for AT LEAST fifty years, if not more.
