Roundabouts and Traffic Circles
One interesting outtake from the interviews I did with City Manager Jim Couch, Assistant City Manager Dennis Clowers and Public Works Director Eric Wenger is that all three engineers professed to not know that there’s any difference between the terms “roundabout” and “traffic circle” as we discussed the debate over whether the west connection for the planned Oklahoma City Boulevard should be elevated or a roundabout.
So here’s a chart posted at OKC Talk I think is worth studying;

Thank goodness Steve is sticking with this. I am trying to follow the diagrams. So, the construction at 10th and N. Walker is a roundabout?
If you want to see the difference between a traffic circle, a rotary (UK roundabout) and a modern roundabout, search http://www.k-state.edu to see pictures. The FHWA has a video about modern roundabouts that is mostly accurate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhHzly_6lWM ).

Steve Lackmeyer needs to stay on this like a tick on a hound dog.
He is like a sheepdog watching over his OKC flock :~)
