Maybe you could catch one of the city buses to take you to the canal. I suppose you’d consider Edmond the hinterlands since we are 12 miles from OKC. And yes, Edmond has bus service that you can take into OKC. With the metro-area population of 1,252,987, I doubt if most of them consider they live in the hinterlands. So we’ll have to drive. Big deal, we drive everywhere else. Unless you are a displaced or misplaced New Yorker, we knew how to drive at an early age. If you don’t like OKC then leave–no one will miss you or your pessimism!
