New Downtown Views

Downtown's first public basketball court, southwest of the Myriad Gardens at Reno and Hudson Avenues, is almost ready to open.

Balconies were being added to 1212, MidTown's newest apartment building. The former garage stood empty with an ugly gray stucco facade for more than 25 years.

After getting a closer look at the ornate rock formations created along the medians of Robinson Avenue and the lane set-up, it's easier to understand why there may be some resistance to routing the future streetcar system along this block....

I doubt that the streetcar will affect the decorative rocks or the new lanes. It is the lack of utility relocation with the streetcar that will be disruptive. The two projects could have been integrated together, but were not.
If the rocks have to be moved to allow for such a relocation, they can be put back exactly where they were.
The rocks themselves aren’t so bad – it’s the fact that they did the rocks yet we still don’t have a completed sidewalk on either side of Robinson, or a crosswalk to get from one side to another.

Looking at the rocks, one can also understand why there have been some cost overruns.
