MidTown Housing Live Blogging: WHAT THE????

Tanenbaum just put up a power point on his track record saying he is successful urban and suburban developer, successful with apartment projects, mixed-use projects, historic projects …

And citing it to me????

WRONG. WRONG. WRONG.

UPDATE: For those curious, Tanenbaum was quoting from Downtown on the Range, a site hosted by Nick Roberts. I suspect I’m not the only one in that room who was a bit unhappy with parts of the Tanenbaum presentation; I hear that they were totally unaware that as they trashed the HUD loan process that the head of the city HUD office was in the audience. Good luck with that.

Do you refute that with the committee?? I think his is the worst of the 4 that presented.

I think Tanenbaum will be the only developer of the 4, that will proceed with his project no matter the outcome. Obviously a different location in Midtown, but the project would be very similar.

He seems set on breaking ground for a new Midtown development with or without the Mercy location. I don’t think we would be having the discussion of new proposals today if it weren’t for Mr. Tanenbaum.

I think I know what he is referencing to. He might be referencing a post of mine that you referenced a while back. Thanks by the way, I think it’s really awesome when you do that for me. I know I don’t say thanks enough. :)

Hope all is well back home!

In defense of the comment I made regarding Tanenbaum: I think it’s true, if you look at the body of his work, he is an extremely successful developer, and he might have the most diverse portfolio of any developer in OKC. He has developed 100,000s of sf of warehouses in NE OKC. He has been a successful suburban developer. He has been a successful hybrid suburban/urban (aka suburban marketed as urban) developer (Legacy at Central Park).

And he has also been an extraordinarily successful urban development. To name a few: The Montgomery, The Classen.

I have to say though, that hearing Dick Tanenbaum was interested in the site got my hopes up a little bit too much for what he ended up actually proposing for the site.

as a resident of stroud, i am anxiously awaiting to hear about how successful mr. tanenbaum has been in re-developing the tanger mall site (owned by him), which was destroyed by the may 3, 1999 tornado…

Sorry David, he took that insurance money and said see ya! That will remain undeveloped for years, sorry to say.

Good luck with that in deed!!!!!!
… since the Comerica financing for Tannebaum’s project is for construction ONLY.
Also Tanenbaum has(HAD?)two exisiting projects pending for HUD refinancing. LOL

i was unclear. tanenbaum bought the property AFTER tanger took the insurance money and cleared the lot. tanenbaum then sat on it with an inflated price for a considerable period of years. he then finally sold it to the sac and fox tribe and others, doing virtually nothing with it but speculation.
