Time to Ride the Interurban!
As some of you know, in my off hours I’m having a blast working with Retro Metro OKC to make history more accessible. Our latest collection are some rarely seen films – an hour all together – of the old Oklahoma City street cars and Interurbans from the 1940s. i’m guessing it’s some sort of package delivery service. the big railroads sometimes had service on branch lines called “doodlebug”, which was a hybrid freight/passenger unit. it consisted of a single, powered car that had limited passenger seating and van delivery service. since the oklahoma railway consisted of purely passenger service, it would have been conceivable for them to utilize their trackage for speedy local package service, possibly necessitating a special, dedicated car. ventilation would not be necessary for the comfort of packages, and windows also allow the greater possibility of leaks.

Does anyone know what the small trolley with no windows on the side was supposed to be for?
