OKC raised taxes to do it. Think what it would be like if OKC cut taxes and did not invest in the future.

It is a non-partisan position to the extent you don’t see party affiliation on campaign materials or attached to their name in news stories etc. Same goes for Council members.

As Doug pointed out over at OKCTalk, it was in response to the reporters Tea Party question.

Steve, I hadn’t noticed the Mayor bringing it up before specifically during a campaign, seems he would mention “conservative” (which usually gets translated in the minds of most as being Republican).

Yes. I noticed that as well. If one looks to Tulsa, or across the street at the county, one can easily see that being a Republican or Democrat has NOTHING to do with Oklahoma City’s success. Prior mayors have been careful to respect and value the non-partisan status of the job. Mick hasn’t fared as well at this matter, and it does bother and upset others. In past publicity his aide has responded it was the reporter, not the mayor, bringing it up. But it has been introduced by Mick in previous mayoral campaigns and now, very clearly, in this article.
