Great Video, But Still Cutting Corners
At www.okctalk.com this video is being hailed as the best yet for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, and overall, I’d have to agree. All too often I’ve seen these videos recycling very old video clips and doing an injustice to how far downtown has come.
The good news is the video clip of the canal right after it opened, with an incomplete clock and elevator tower at the JDM building and unfinished patio in front of the Hunzicker Building, is gone. Bad news: they still have footage of a jazz musician playing in front of the Deep Deuce Jazz Club – a business that was open for a few seconds almost a decade ago. That can be forgiven. But the closing footage showing Chase Tower as Bank One Tower (now that’s old!) and a dark and empty Skirvin Hotel – please, why end such a great video with such an old and stale shot! I just don’t understand the need to cut corners on a video that is supposed to show Oklahoma City as it is NOW, and to show how much it’s changing.
Just saying …

Yep it’s full of a lot of quick shots but hey at 1:32 into the piece I spotted the entrance to my neighborhood. Isn’t OKC a great place to live!
Due respect but I dont think the people that video is aimed at will notice the dark skirvin or bank one…..but I agree, if youre gonna do it, why not do it right? After all, this video may be historic one day.
It’s a great video, but some from the Plaza District might add some flavor. I may just be bias though…
Usually I’m right there with you brother, but on this one I think it’s a nitpick too far. I think it is a terrific video which I posted on FB a few weeks ago for my out of town friends to see. I just watched it again and still think it’s very good and paints a flattering and honest picture.
I’ll readily admit I’m nitpicking! But when it comes to promoting our city with an outdated clip of a dark and abandoned Skirvin, well, I get a bit annoyed. Hopefully we’ll have one incredible new video to show in 2014, with ALL new footage, when Devon tower, Project 180, the new highway and boulevard are all completed.

Good video, and I know they do this to show “movement” and excitement, but would it kill them to hold a shot for more than 1/2 a second. I think I had an epileptic seizure midway through.
