Project 180: More Pain
Downtown traffic advisory; 6/30
Hudson from Park to Main to be reduced to one lane
Southbound Hudson Avenue between Park Avenue and Main Street will be reduced to one lane starting July 6 so crews can install a new utility line.
The work, which is part of a larger utility line installation project on Hudson Avenue between Park Avenue and Sheridan Avenue, will be done in several phases.
The first phase between Park Avenue and Main Street should be completed in July. The second phase, which will begin immediately following completion of the first, will result in the complete closure of Hudson Avenue south of Main Street. Drivers are advised to watch for construction status updates and plan to start taking alternate routes toward the end of July.
Sheridan Avenue between Hudson and Robinson
Sheridan Avenue between Robinson Avenue and Hudson Avenue remains closed for utility work.
Film District improvements
The following traffic disruptions are part of ongoing street improvements in the Film District.
* Lee Ave. is temporarily closed from Main to Reno.
* Shartel Ave. is temporarily closed from Main to Reno.
* Sheridan is reduced to one lane in each direction from Walker to Classen.
All project timelines are contingent upon the weather.

Because David, that would require patience and taking a year or two to plan it all out together first when there are people who want to see work started now. Now here’s the thing: did you know that council members can be contacted via email or by phone? Did you know that anyone can show up at the city council meeting and address the mayor and council like Nick did?
Did you know that the council actually cares about getting re-elected?
Steve, any chance we can get a map of downtown occasionally that shows what streets are closed, narrowed, etc?
Devon is calling the shots with Project 180. It’s their TIF district, so it’s their timeline. We were all warned that downtown would become a mess while all of the transformation takes place. I, personally, am delighted to see roads closed…if it means that a new, more walkable and inviting downtown is emerging.
David, while all of these projects are being constructed downtown, it doesn’t mean they are all given to the same contractor, landscape designer, or civil engineer. You can only hope that they are being coordinated by someone at the city. It is a tough job that would probably be beyond most of our abilities.
Hi Steve,
This traffic advisory is actually related to utility work and not directly to the Project180 streetscape which is set to begin in mid-August along Reno.
We have decided to create these traffic advisories to encompass all work being completed downtown in order to make sure everyone has a complete understanding of which streets are accessible and which ones are not.
We are in the process of developing a website that will include maps to accompany these traffic advisories and specifically highlight the work being done as a result of Project180. Until that website is available, here is a link to a map that illustrates and explains what will begin in mid-August http://bit.ly/bfPpd2

Strange to hear from someone who seems to be rushing an announcement of where the new convention will be.
Casey, I’ve never advocated rushing of an announcement as to where the convention center and to say so is completely misleading. I’ve only advocated an open process where the public is informed and letting them know whether they will have input or whether this is already a done deal. I know of only ONE person who has publicly advocated limiting site selection.

as i sit here pondering project 180, C2S, MAPS3, CC, sandridge commons, and i-40, i can’t help but wonder…
WHY CAN THERE NOT BE ONE CENTRAL PLAN?!?!
i just don’t get it. tons of money being spent, both public and private, with decisions that will affect this city for at least half a century if not an entire one, and there is no central plan. instead, we talk about building a box to protect a CC that hasn’t supposedly been decided on, streets are going to be ripped up for project 180 to only likely be ripped out within months of being completed to accommodate streetcar tracks, an interstate is going to be eight feet below grade with trucks over 12 feet tall driving on it constantly, etc., etc., etc.
WHAT THE H*LL IS GOING ON? WHY CAN’T THERE BE ONE PLAN INSTEAD OF SEVERAL? the time to address this lunacy is NOW.
