Balance Achieved

On Twitter there is a gentleman criticizing my coverage of the SandRidge Commons development as being anti-SandRidge and suggesting I might be trying to drive the company out of the city. Meanwhile, over at www.okctalk.com, I’ve got a guy insisting my coverage has consisted of press releases dictated to me by SandRidge Energy.
That’s me – Steve Lackmeyer – annoying everybody since 1990.

your movie reviews were always the shit though.

Atta boy, Steve. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys. And just remember, “Car Wash” is the best movie ever made.

LOL. And what would be your motive to run SandRidge out of OKC? LOL

Keep up the great work and keep p***ing everyone off (though I bet that makes it harder to get quotes and interviews).

Anyone that has any clue (has read more than 1 of your articles) knows that you are NOT one of those re-write a press release type of reporters. Do you get info from press releases? Sure, probably every reporter does. But the good ones know they are what they are. Written from a very biased point of view. And have to be scrutinized carefully.

Alright I’m pissed too. It had better not been you Steve who wrote that horrible little switch on GaGa’s name. You’ll upset your balance when you feel the wrath of America’s teenagers. But then again it’ll probably meet the moral police’s approval aka 30+ year old individuals. So I guess you do achieve balance. ;] Enjoy that.

“That’s me – Steve Lackmeyer – annoying everybody since 1990.”

Oh, come on, Steve…I’m sure you were annoying people even before 1990. At a school paper maybe? :)

touche Casey, touche.
OK, how’s this?
“Professionally annoying everybody since 1990.”

perfect.

Casey said, “perfect *** since 1990.” I say, “not so fast.” You attended school with Larry (Buddy) Johnson (now with the Okc Metro Library System) back in your grade school days in the city, as I understand it. Have you checked with Buddy to see how far back your annoying roots might go?

I’m just kidding, friend to friend. You are never annoying to me.

If any admin from OKC Talk is reading this..let them know that their website is still infected, still crashing, and still giving me viruses. Won’t go back till it’s fixed.

Nick, if you are using Firefox, in the Tools menu, select Options … and be sure that popup windows are blocked and that javascript is disabled. That seems to work. You may want to enable javascript after you leave the site, though.

The virus I picked up @ OKCTALK put my work machine out of commission for nearly two whole days. I’m staying far, far away.

Thanks Doug. I’ll give it a try..worst it can do is make me have to do another system restore for like the 5th time this week thanks to that virus.

I blame the pro-SandRidge posters

Nick, did the SandRidge virus replace your desktop with a nice park rendering? j/k

Virus’ are no fun and even got ONE on my Mac several years ago. That is ONE virus in about 15 years of using Macs at work & home. The PC’s here at work are getting various viruses at least monthly.

I still haven’t picked up a virus there although, until I disabled JavaScript (and always having disabled popups) it was redirecting and trying to do something unusual that I suppose my virus software (the free Avast program) must have prevented, as well as the annoyance of the display bouncing to the bottom of screens. When I enter OkcTalk now, I temporarily disable JavaScript but then enable it upon exiting, and things seem OK there with that temporary fix. I’m using the latest version of Firefox as my normal browser and my system is WindowsXP Pro.

I think the world of http://www.okctalk.com and I want to see it back and healthy asap. But after seeing my computer hit HARD (my drive was so damaged by this thing I lost all my personal email folders and some of my other files as well), I really think it would be best for the site to be taken off-line until this matter is fixed. I can not emphasize enough that even if you think this thing is harmless, IT IS NOT. I was participating on the board for a week where we now know it was infected and it took a few days before it took my computer down. Until we are advised that the site is fixed, I urge ALL OF YOU to avoid http://www.okctalk.com. I promise I will be the first one to celebrate it’s return and will announce it here, on Twitter and on Facebook.

RIP OKCTalk, RIP
