Bricktown Canal Maintenance Revisited

A couple of weeks ago I hit the Bricktown Association and Brad Hogan on what appeared to be a trashier canal walkway following the transition of maintenance from the city parks department to Hogan.
I included photos like this:

Jim Cowan, director of the Bricktown Association responded promptly with this:

So it’s only fair that I show what I saw on a follow-up visit timed on a Sunday afternoon – the same sort of afternoon that coincided with my last of round of photos. Here is what saw:

A canal walk that doesn't have a hint of trash.

I'm also seeing more extensive landscaping along the canal than I've seen in years.

Sometimes privatization works, as is the case with the water taxis and canal maintenance. Not so much with Turner Falls State Park.

I noticed all the landscaping too. Seems like there are more annual flowers planted than usual too. I wondered if it had anything to do with the Council of Mayors convention.

The extra flowers are just part of the overall landscaping plan and not associated with any special event.

Wow. Look at all those people on the canal..

Nick, I purposely waited until the canal walkway was cleared of people to take the photo. There were actually quite a few people out when I took these photos.

Thanks for the follow-up, Steve.

yeah I wonder if the landscaping is from the City, not the private group that is cleaning. I’m sure the National Convention of Mayors didn’t slow down the process.

Phwew. Glad to hear! I was worried for a minute.

The landscaping was done by Hogan and the Bricktown Association. The plantings were part of a switch-over that took place in April.
