I’d like to see a landscape architect on the board. Many of the issue concerning this body fall under the purview of landscape architecture. The board seems a little heavy on the architects. Perhaps a planner would be a good addition as well.

Stan is a terrific choice. He obviously has a great design aesthetic. He is also very smart and has a great deal of insight about downtown development issues.

Like McDermid, Stan Carroll is a good, local, licensed architect. However, he mostly practices metalwork rather than architecture.

Since the committee mostly deals with architecture-related issues, Stan would be a perfet fit and would also avoid potential conflicts of interest.

DANG…and here I was all ready to jump all over this…wasn’t it Anthony McDermid that made the “blood on our hands” remark (and then ironically voted for the demolition)? If so, was thinking his resignation/replacement might be due to his comments and someone at City Hall got their feathers ruffled. Such a waste of a good conspiracy…LOL

Any chance that McDermid might have recommended Carroll to the panel before he tendered his resignation? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that; I hold Mr Carroll in high regard.)

Stan Carroll is a very well regarded architect, devoted to downtown, and also is a very accomplished metal artist whose work includes the sculpture outside of Broadway Kerr Garage and the conference room in the Momentum Building in the Flatiron district. He is part of the team on the skydance bridge to be built over the new I-40

If Anthony has to step down for whatever reason then I can’t think of a better person to replace him than Stan Carroll.
