Is Crawl for Cancer Looking for a New OKC Home?

I wonder how the adjoining Heritage Hills and Mesta Park neighborhoods will feel about an event described by critics as a daytime binge drinking fest being located in MidTown? I’m told the MidTown Association will be considering hosting the event at their next meeting.

Neither local organizers or the for-profit company in Kansas City are still refusing to provide The Oklahoman with financial information from fundraisers promoted as having “all proceeds” going to charity.

Here are the questions Kansas City-based Crawl for Cancer has refused to answer since Tuesday (they have ignored repeated calls and emails and I was told by local organizer David Tedford that the national office was aware of my inquiries):

1. Why is the event structured so as to having people drink heavily during the daytime in an area frequented by families?
2. Why is Crawl for Cancer no longer accredited with the Better Business Bureau?
3. Why is Crawl for Cancer a for-profit company?
4. David Tedford, an organizer of the Oklahoma City event, said you could provide me with an accounting of expenditures and receipts for the 2009 Crawl for Cancer in Bricktown. I’d appreciate getting that information as soon as possible.
5. I’d also like an accounting for the national organization’s finances.
6. What is your reaction to the Bricktown Association telling Crawl for Cancer it is no longer welcome?
7. What is your reaction to reports of participants fighting, abusing families with children and engaging in lewd behavior?

FACT: If you’re drunk all the time, cancer cannot survive in your body.

What a brilliant medical intervention.

None of these hillbillies in MidTown please, let’s move them to Memorial Rd. and they can party with the Ed Hardy crowd at Baker Street or something. They’d fit right in up on Memorial.
