The Cellar Restaurant at The Hightower, Part One
I had the great fortune of getting to tour the old Cellar restaurant space in the basement of the Hightower Building with Dave Cathey, David Morris, Tanner Herriott, Johnson Hightower, Chuck Ainsworth and the great, legendary chef John Bennett. Enjoy!

I really don’t know anything about the Cellar. What was the reason for its demise? The oil bust? It’s interesting that the space is essentially as it was. Was it a very high dollar place? Could it make it today?
I don’t remember the prices but if you compare it to prices today I’m sure it wasn’t high. When I was in college I couldn’t have afforded anything too extravagant. There is more competition today downtown for evening meals but I think there might still be a place for it.



That was great to see and brought back a lot of memories. When I was in college at OU in the late 60′s and wanted to take someone out to eat that I wanted to really impress that was the place.
