SandRidge Energy Unveils Designs Today
This ought to be interesting to see exactly how they envision using the space that would result from tearing down the four surrounding buildings. Here’s a bit of fun for you folks who have been following this story – WHAT QUESTIONS WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO ASK AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE???
Thank you for joining our conversation on OKC Central. We encourage your discussion but ask that you stay within the bounds of our commenting and posting policy.

Ask about Tom Ward’s previous statement from your original article on the issue that the building(s) are eyesore(s), where in reality they are beautiful buildings covered with concrete facades that can be removed. Ask why he insists on tearing down instead of remodeling. Ask why SandRidge insists on going “out with the old, in with the new.”
I thought we learned our lesson during urban renewal…
Start off by talking about the praise they have gotten for preserving and updating such an important building downtown. Then ask why they would rather open up yet another plaza to said building rather than preserve the ONLY streetwall left in Oklahoma City.
Ask them if they looked at converting the buildings they are going to tear down. Ask who their architect or whoever it is giving them bad advice to tear down those buildings instead of convert them into housing or something else.
This is an easy one. Ask why they would tear down the old Kermac building. I understand why they are tearing down the India Temple Building. It has been ruined from what I hear from the structural guys. The Kermac building doesn’t make sense to me though…
Off the subject, but ghost stories picking up traction….another story on espn, this time about the Bulls experiences…..
….but yeah…..why not just build a new building on Memorial Rd. if thats the type of “campus” they want?
Well gang, not sure if I’m going to be able ask these questions or not. For the past couple of days I’ve pressed SandRidge officials to reconsider rescheduling this press conference in light of the ice storm and they’ve not been willing to do so. I’ve picked up the press packet and I’m requesting some phone interviews, but so far I’m unsure whether my request will be granted or not. To cover this press conference I’d have to be willing to be downtown, out and about, through at least 3 p.m. That’s not a risk I’m willing to take for this story.
I want to do everything I can to keep you informed. But I permanently injured my left knee on the job a few years ago and the last thing I need is to slip on the ice or get into a car accident.
Life, my friends, is too short for that sort of thing. I can promise you I will have some renderings to show you this afternoon and if I don’t get these questions answered today, I will do all I can to get them answered as soon as possible.
Please, please be careful today. The roads are starting to get slick, and appearances are deceiving. I almost slipped on the SandRidge plaza when I was there an hour ago and the bridges are clearly starting to ice over.
Roads will be next, and probably soon.

Ask about the results of the downtown wind study and how the plans are set to alleviate the wind tunnel effect of downtown OKC.
