My favorite point in the film was at 55 seconds to 1 minute. You could see the electrical lines crisscrossing each other at the intersections where the interurban/trolley lines were. And I agree with Mike Morgan about the steam trains, that is pretty cool. At 1 minute 20 seconds, is that the Candy Factory that that train is pulling past? If so that's definitely Santa Fe, but at 1 minute 58 seconds that's a shot taken to the west of the Skirvin looking east toward Bricktown. This steam train was either on the Chicago Rock Island & Pacific line or the Union Pacific line.

Cool video Steve!

Thanks Steve! Yes, your wife is right....I have watched your posted clip about 15 times already this morning.....Machine-wise, there are not too many cooler things that a mainline steam locomotive, pulling a load, on a cold winter day! Your clip does a very nice job highlighting just that.....I count at least 5 engines on the Santa Fe mainline. The film even appears to focus on this. There are no diesel engines....MOST EXCELLENT!!

Mike, my wife the weather fanatic just explained that you're a huge steam locomotive fan. The film is from the Oklahoma Historical Society - we simply edited it and put some background music to it. Feel free to rip a copy off of You Tube for your own collection.

Thanks guys!
The film is from OHS archives, Doug. Just one of several goodies we have coming out at www.okchistory.com (you can see all of our videos on our YouTube channel or at www.okchistory.com.
And Merry Christmas Mike - you nailed the forecast this week. Appreciate how you went through why it was so unpredictable on Christmas Eve.
We've got a four-foot snow drift in front of our garage door. Needless to say, our kids are thrilled.
