That’s actually painful to look at. It breaks my heart to think of what we could have right now, at least from a restoration standpoint, had we just left downtown alone.
I was 9 in 1960. We lived between Covington and Garber, in the oil fields. I remember being in downtown Enid, and OKC with my folks at Christmas time. Those places were so exciting, filled with people and stores. Hustle and bustle everywhere. I always felt like I was in NYC when I was in downtown OKC in those days. Wow, I wish it could be like that now, but, never again I suppose. Time marches on.
