The space was never intended to be a dog park, like the PAW park at Lake Hefner. It was always intended to be a dog "area" or dog run, but somehow the word "park" got thrown into the mix and people started having misconceptions about its size and function.

The City and Parks & Recreation Departments do not actually operate the PAW Park at Lake Hefner. While the City owns the land, the PAW Park is operated and maintained by OKC PAW (People for Animal Welfare), which is a 501(c)(3) operation. It is only through a similar community partnership that the department would likely open a second dog park in the metro.

To be fair, city folks never portrayed the Myriad Gardens feature as a dog park. And if I misled readers in that regard, I apologize. (ironically, the captcha on this comment is "The goofed")

That's not my idea of a dog park. I'd like to see one along the river. There is a lot of parkland and open land on the north side of the river that isn't used much. Fence some of that in and make a real dog park where dogs can do the frisbee thing. A great dog park takes up too much acreage to even make it part of the new Central Park, IMO.
