Rapid Movement

I had a couple of posts pre-written for yesterday and today. I had to scrap them. Yes, that’s how fast things  are moving when it comes to downtown’s makeover (I’m hearing some call it “downtown 180″ – nice touch!).

Sitting through the last set of meetings, and listening to the discussion of light fixtures, I couldn’t help but ask afterwards, “where are people like Rand Elliott?” Or when seeing the earnest debate over street furniture, I couldn’t help but wonder “where are people like Stan Carroll?”

The entire table changes tomorrow. And yeah, I’m hearing Rand will be there. If possible, I’ll try to do some live blogging and tweeting.

I was wondering about the design knowledge and ability of the people making these very significant decisions. Glad to hear Rand Elliott will be involved.

I say let’s commission Rand to design the light fixtures. He seems to have a nack for that sort of thing.

I like Rand. I admire his work. I’ve known him for more than a dozen years and I consider him a friend (one who knows I still have to do a job and that sometimes results in stories he doesn’t like).

But be careful when it comes to what you ask for Kris – Rand is an artist at heart, and that can be very, very good, or in the eye of others, very, very bad.

Not sure I’d give him carte blanche to decide lighting schemes for my house. But I couldn’t afford what he’s worth in expertise advising me on it.

Does that make sense?

I think OKC needs a bit of a Rand Elliott touch. OKC would be GENIUS for it??? (no pun intended)All I am saying is, if we are going to do a 180 in this city, it needs to be 180. You know what I mean?
