Not Everyone Will Be Happy to See This
Cosair Cattle Co., which owned some of downtown’s boarded-up buildings for years only to flip them for prices observers felt were inflated, now owns this gem of a building on Main Street. Property records show Cosair bought the building from the Downtown Baptist Mission for $330,000 on July 31. Maybe, just maybe, folks can hope for something better this time around. To be fair, the Smith brothers have started improving some of their buildings following some significant sell-offs in MidTown.

they also bought several buildings along broadway and also on Northwest 15th between Broadway and Robinson with the money from Midtown I assume. And it looks like their holding on to them like they did the properties in Mid town…. Holding–with boarded up windows and no progress to anywhere… So don’t bet the farm on that they will do anything with the new property but wait out the market.
“Radar” not really, it’s in between the Arts District and Film Row, depending on which district decides to blossom first, I imagine this will be incorporated into.
I find it still intriguing that they bought this property. I’d like to see a Q&A with the owners, and not just all softball questions.
Steve, you have stated that you thought when the School of Rock outgrows BT, it would move to the Ford plant on Main and Classen. Do you think (if it doesn’t grow as much as expected) this would be a good option? Still DT, on main street, two story with a lot of room to expand and the Civic Center within walking distance. Thoughts?
It certainly fits into the area being discussed, and it would be easy to see this building being adapted into classrooms. Here’s an interest bit of history – at one time the building was home to the municipal courts.
Since you know more about Booker and Drozd than I do, do you think they will move into a larger space like the Ford Plant or this space or have multiple studios in multiple buildings in BT?
Based on the behind-the-scenes politics, developments, efforts, etc., I’d put my bets on the Ford plant being the launching point for a permanent home with buildings like this one potentially becoming part of a bigger campus like the Savanah media college model.

This is in an “unnamed district”..
Yes, it may need to be preserved, but just as the Nontgomery and the old Holiday Inn nearby, there should be a purpose to continue feeding money into the structure.
