Given a Choice, People Would Take a Chicken Sandwich and a Newspaper Before Kerr-McGee?

What does it say about Kerr-McGee’s final legacy that when asked in a poll two days ago (unscientific, for sure) what downtown business they miss the most, more people by a wide margin replied they miss Chickfila and Taylor’s Newsstand more than Kerr-McGee?

Mmmm………Chicken

As I mentioned in my comments on the poll, I do miss Chick-fil-a, and Taylor’s. But, that does not mean that I am anti-Kerr McGee. I do wish we had more corporate HQs in OKC, and especially downtown.

It’s hard to miss the Kerr-McGee that was here in its last period. Maybe I’m wrong, but that wasn’t the Kerr-McGee that Dean McGee would recognize. And, we kinda got anestheticized (sp?) and numbed to Kerr McGee leaving, it having been speculated for such a long time before it happened.

But, yes, it’s hard to figure how a chain chicken sandwich, and one that’s not all that good, would be missed by so many in downtown. Go figure. Eat more beef.

KMG was practically replaced by SandRidge, who could very well be an even better downtown tenant..at least compared to the last phase of KMG.
