Catching the Train at Park and Robinson

Now let’s not rush in with the weapons and Sooner Schooner just yet…. more weirdness to follow…

Odd fashions for such a hot June afternoon.

I’ve seen some oddities downtown all week long. We started off with the shark invasion, and well, do we really need to discuss that any further?
Last night at deadCENTER I saw a couple dressed as Samurai warriors. I also saw a bachelorette party group that really would have been popular at, well, a bachelor party.
And then there were these two ladies walking toward the First National Tower this afternoon. Downtown hasn’t seen this style of dress since women dressed in their Sunday best to shop at John A. Brown’s Department Store.
And yet there were even more surprises….
Do you like classic cars?

Yep, “The Killer Inside Me” crew arrived at Park and Robinson today. I missed the outdoor filming, but I’m told the Great Banking Hall stood in as a railway station.

Visiting with a member of the film crew, I learned most of them came up Austin. The guy I talked to said he was from Oklahoma City originally and was happy to be back. Amazingly, he had never seen the Great Banking Hall.
Here it is in case you’ve missed out as well…..

Yes, it really is amazing. Leave it to a national bank with no sense of history to abandon this space. Boatman's Bank, Bank of America, doesn't matter ...

I saw a late-Forties Lincoln with Texas plates headed north on I-35 this afternoon; I’m guessing it had to be one of the cars used in the film, given its spotless appearance and the fact that the driver wasn’t about to gun it up to the 68 mph everyone else seemed to be doing.

RE your quote: “Yes, it really is amazing. Leave it to a national bank with no sense of history to abandon this space. Boatman’s Bank, Bank of America, doesn’t matter …”

Fools, with no vision. Obviously not in the cards right now, but I can’t help but think that the building would be best in the hands of local ownership at some point. People who have a memory of the building when they were younger, and what it has meant to the city – I think it has made a difference with other downtown properties, I think it can again with the First National.

I saw casey affleck’s police cruiser being towed down robinson that day. It’s awesome that our downtown is gonna be in a film.
