Tubinomic
This is just a concept, not a project about to be built. But it’s certainly intriguing. Full story in tomorrow’s paper.

Part of me is afraid of how reminiscent it is to Pyongyang, North Korea. Part of me doubts it will ever get built. Part of me absolutely loves it.
I realize this is VERY hypothetical, but is there a designation for what this would power? but is Elliott proposing that this power the DVN building or be a power source for downtown or what? Paid for by part of the TIF from the Devon Building?
Rand Elliot never ceases to amaze me. Say what you may about his style, but the guy is incredibly creative.
This reminds me of the bridge that wanted to be a generator. Buildings have enough trouble being buildings. Conceptually it’s cool… but it’s hard just keeping the HVAC working in most buildings, I can’t imagine the maintenance nightmare this Rube would require. (Not to mention the ridiculous cost.)
Something tells me this proposal has nothing to do with actually building a building… I just hope it doesn’t make the cover of Popular Mechanics!
This is a fantastic concept. Modern, green, progressive — exactly the sort of thinking Oklahoma needs to see, embrace and support. If the citizens and companies here don’t envision the future, we’re destined to forever lag behind the rest of the nation. As far as trend setting – why NOT Oklahoma?
I’ll answer that. Because this thing is ghastly at first blush.
I still have a lot of respect for Rand, though.
Is there a way they could incorporate something like that into it without the building looking like a dreidel? I realize it’s all conceptual, but that building would stick out like Fatty Arbuckle in a Biggest Losers reunion show.

We could light it like a Christmas Tree.
