This piece is so amazing to see in person! And I have worked downtown for years and had no idea there was an underground entrance at that location. The Underground is a great rain/ice/snow bypass route for downtowners and a fun lunch destination. It has a most accessible post office, too.

Unless you work in one of the building nodes, there is very little reason to go underground. Yes it looks very cool and is fun to walk through as a novelty. But it's just not functional unless you're originating in one of the buildings and need to go somewhere that one of the tunnels happens go.

Stan's piece is very neat, and it does a good job of luring people down... But THEN what?

I wonder what Jeff Speck would do with the underground?

I personally hope the Underground stays as is. The foot traffic at street level would go a lot further for continued DT revitalization. And don't tell me it's hot... plenty of cities manage.

It's good to see something to call attention to the Underground entryways.

Someday, I hope there would be enough foot traffic in the system to spur new restaurants and retail. I remember things were great there in the 1980's.
