I vote for more focus on downtown development, and I live in the suburbs!

Given Will's logic, the commuter neighborhoods of Norman and Edmond would be nothing without the central business district of Downtown OKC.

Both propositions are equally silly. The entire OKC Metro is intertwined and each part is dependent on each other part to some degree or another.

OKC is definately a car town with predominately car people and in that respect lacks diversity. Why would OKC want to stay that way? Why wouldn't the OKC Metro want to retain and attract talented and interesting individuals who are pedestrian people? Why wouldn't the OKC Metro be interested in hedging against a likely future of higher car and road operating costs before they are fully upon us?

Did Will really say, "Bricktown is good enough" in that first post? Good enough...man I hope the leaders of this city don't ever look at the main entertainment/tourist district of this city and say it's "good enough."

Will you are worried about keeping people that live in Norman and Edmond to continue coming downtown to work instead of having them live downtown...so, you enjoy people that make money off OKC and go spend the bulk of that money in another city? Strange way to prioritize a city's interest.

People do care about shopping in Downtown. As someone who works in Bricktown, people always asks for more shopping, where can i shop, where is there a mall? The people who do work in Downtown maybe would like some retail and the people who visit OKC would like to go to downtown and shop istead of having to drive 50 plus blocks to go to a mall or try to figure

The fuss is this as well, there are people wanting to live in downtown who would like to shop. The suburbs helped kill a downtown that my generation never got to experience. The theatres, stores, etc. It's also about pride in our city.

I know a lot of people who disagree with you. But to be fair, we'll do a poll on whether this is an issue people care about.

Who cares?

Oklahoma City is a car town for car people. I don't understand all of this focus on pedestrians. Without the workers commuting from Norman and Edmond, Downtown OKC would be nothing...they are who we should worry about.

And we should also quit worrying about getting retail downtown. Bricktown is good enough and we already have a number of great malls across the city.

I just don't understand what all of the fuss is about.
